Born lower east side NYC July 1922,  He spent his childhood at St. Agatha Catholic Orphanage in Nanuet, NY.  When he left the orphanage he, like many other dedicated Americans, after the Pearl Harbor bombings, enlisted in the thousands for their country. He was proud to be among them. He later became a Marine Sniper in WWII and fought in 5 campaigns in the Pacific. He was also one of the last survivors of the brutal battle of Iwo Jima. He was often asked why he did not have all the medals others had, he simply said “ ya can’t eat medals’  - He later moved his large family to Teaneck, NJ.   “Doc”  passed away peacefully on Friday November 2, 2018. He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Anna Mae of Cocoa Beach, Fl. and their children Ernie, Cape Canaveral, Fl., Robert and his wife Ann of Teaneck, NJ, Thomas and his wife Sharon of Deerfield Beach, Fl., Elizabeth and her husband Michael of Hackensack, NJ, Ellen of South Jersey, Virginia and her husband Steve of Grand Junction, Co., and Frances and her daughter Amanda in Cocoa Beach, Fl.  There were also many grandchildren and great great grandchildren.    Military services will be held at a later date with his ashes being buried at the National Cemetery in Mims, Fl.   Contributions will be greatly appreciated to his memory and support of his wife Ann Doherty   200 S Banana River Blvd. # 2310    Cocoa Beach, Fl. 32931.
