Judy was born to Otto and Evelyn Strohmenger on October 29, 1947.
Her father was in the US Foreign Service and was assigned to Asia. This resulted in Judy and her older sister growing up and getting an education in Southeast Asia. This included stints in Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines. Judy returned to the US for her junior-senior high school years and graduated from Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda Maryland. After graduation Judy became an executive secretary for vice president of Page Communications Engineers, in Georgetown DC. During her last year in high school, she met her to be husband, Dorsey Thompson. After serval years of dating, they married on July 7th 1967. In May 1964 Dorsey accepted a position with Stearns Roger in Denver Colorado. This was the predecessor for moves to Los Vegas Nevada, Farmington New Mexico, Anacortes Washington, Richland Washington, Kennewick Washington, Astoria Oregon, Irvin California, West Palm Beach Florida, Merritt Island Florida, and Rockledge Florida. Since the Richland Washington assignment Judy has held positions in Church Administration. Judy always felt gratitude, that the Lord had given her the gifts needed for church administration. She felt it was a ministry and treated it as such.
She retired in 2022 and pursued her interests with music, raising a new sheltie, jigsaw puzzles and keeping her husband busy. In 24 years at Faith Viera, she found a ministry that filled her heart and gave purpose to everyday. On November 23rd, 2022, she went to be with the Lord.
The celebration of life service will be held Thursday December 1st, 2022, at 1PM. at Faith Viera Lutheran Church. A private Internment is planned for later in the week.
Any memorials should be directed to Faith Viera music department. Music was her second love. She enjoyed singing in choirs and small groups.
