Shirley Ann Roska, 96, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born March 24th, 1925, in Cincinnati OH she would soon relocate with her family to Lebanon OH where her adventures began. Her Mother purchased a farm, and her grandfather started an industrial manifold manufacturing plant. She enjoyed her leisure time hanging out on the farm and socializing in the quaint downtown area of Lebanon.
In Shirley’s late teen years, she attended the Fassifern School for Girls in Hendersonville, NC where she participated in several clubs including the Riding Club and Drama Club. Soon after she would bounce back and forth between Lebanon and Olga FL where her Grand Mother and Grand Father had bought a second house on the Caloosahatchee River. She frequently attended dances in this area where she would meet her future husband George, a young G.I. that was preparing to go over seas during WWII. Before he deployed the two Love Birds eloped.
Once the war was over and George returned to the states, they went back to Lebanon OH and soon started a family when Shirley would become the consummate Mother and Homemaker. George’s job would move them around between Florida and Louisiana eventually settling in Cocoa Beach, FL where Shirley decided she really liked the weather.
Shirley is survived by daughters, Kathleen McDaniel and Cynthia Edwards; son, Randal Roska; and granddaughter, Miranda McDaniel. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Mason Noyes; sister Alice Fairchild; and son-in-law, Don Edwards. Shirley was a truly kind, gentle, and loving Mother and will be greatly missed by everyone who loved to see her lively face and enjoyed conversing with her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach on October 2, 2021, with a viewing at 12pm followed by a service at 1pm. You may sign Shirley’s guestbook at www.beckmanwilliamson.com
